Liberalism’s War on Religion*
(*except Islam)
“In a way, Obama’s standing above the country, above the world. He’s sort of God. He’s going to bring all different sides together.” — Evan Thomas, then-Newsweek
Washington Bureau Chief, on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” 6/5/09
The left’s faith is in The State. Given liberals’ absolute devotion
to government über alles — and their total fealty to Barack
Hussein Obama, mm, mm, mm — they deeply resent any other
allegiance. America’s Judeo-Christian traditions are despised
competition, and the left has been on a long mission to drum
religion out of the public square.
Except one religion.
On January 17, Fox
News reported that taxpayer dollars are being
used to “promote the rich
cultural heritage of Islamic
civilizations.” According
to Rep. Walter Jones
(R, NC), a $1.8 million
National Endowment for
the Humanities grant for
the “Muslim Journeys
Bookshelf” program put “a
collection of books, films,
and other resources” promoting the Islamic culture
in 842 libraries in all 50
states. But if you’re not
Muslim, don’t expect that
kind of welcome:

rights of religious organizations.’” — Stuart Delery, Acting

the songs in the Christmas program as too “religion-based” and
a form of “bullying” for non-Christians. The story made national news, but since the complainers remained anonymous, the
holiday program went forward as planned.
