And … here we go. Coercion is a
pillar of leftism, every time it’s tried.
Libs are totally convinced of their own
superiority and the superiority of their
agenda — which, in their minds, gives
them the absolute authority to bend and
shape society at will, by any means nec-
essary. So they have to make us “behave.”
Here’s Sally Jewell, Obama Interior
Secretary, in a speech to a Nevada “clean
energy” summit in mid-August: “If
we’re going to address climate change, we need to pull together as
leaders to make it happen … We need to wake up and look at the
landscapes and admit what’s happening around us. We need to ask
ourselves, how can we be part of the solution? How can we provide
incentives to reward and incent the right behavior? How can we
hold each other accountable?”
Let me translate Ms. Jewell’s statement into plain English.
“America’s oil-based prosperity is screwing up the planet. We ‘lead-
ers’ have to fix that, and shut the global warming ‘deniers’ up. We
need more regulations to make people do what we want — and
stronger ways to punish them when they don’t.”
This “behavior control” mindset permeates the Obama Regime,
as it has permeated the attitude of every liberal who’s ever lived.
Two weeks earlier, Fox reported, “The federal government is hiring
what it calls a ‘Behavioral Insights Team’ that will look for ways to
subtly influence people’s behavior, according to a document
describing the program … [T]he White House is already working
on such projects with almost a dozen federal departments and agen-
cies including the Department of Health and Human Services and
the Department of Agriculture.”
That’s Obama’s “Nudge Squad,” headed up by George-Soros-
linked Maya Shankar, with the Orwellian official title, “White
House Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of Science and
Technology Policy.” The goal, get this, is to “make government and
society more efficient.” With no messy and inconvenient obstacles
such as dissent, in other words. Folks, these people are control freaks.

Conformity. For 25 years I’ve been trying to explain liberalism to people. And I’ll be struggling with this for as long as I do this. But let me put it this way: What liberals want will never happen naturally, on its own. People, left alone, will not live the way liberals want. Leftists eventually have to build walls or use the power of state intimidation to keep people in, because individuals will not voluntarily stay in places where the left rules. See: the Soviet Union, China, Cuba.

Left to their own devices, in a free country, people will not choose liberalism. If they want to eat trans-fats, beef, salt, they will. If they want to drink a Big Gulp, they will. The only way liberals can get you to live the way they want you to live, is to deny you freedom to do what you want to do. Which is second nature to them. First nature, really.

They’re not happy with you living and thinking in ways other than the way they live and think. You must conform. If you dare speak outside acceptable liberal norms, they will come after you. They will do their best to destroy whoever does not conform, so that any non-conforming person or group will not persuade others. And they are beyond vicious.

They have no desire to debate or persuade. They only want to silence. Liberals cannot survive in an unrigged contest in the arena of ideas. They are not about ideas at all. They use the word “choice” all the time, but dictate that the term can only mean abortion, which can only be celebrated. Liberals are not about choice — they are about imposition. Their strictures and beliefs must be imposed on people, who would never adopt liberal rules and confines otherwise.
